The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VIII welcomes its newly designated Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, outgoing ARD-TS Officer-in-charge Eugenia N. Bautista passed on the leadership and responsibilities to the new OIC, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Jose Elmer C. Bascos through a virtual turn-over ceremony held on June 23, 2020.

DENR VIII Regional Executive Director Tirso P. Parian, Jr. welcomed ARD Bascos and expressed optimism that his presence in the region will lead towards achievement of its targets for the year even with the COVID-19 pandemic.  He also thanked ARD Bautista for her meritorious service as officer-in-charge of the Technical Services for ten months in concurrent capacity as chief of the Conservation and Development Division.

In his message, ARD Bascos vowed full support to the management of the DENR VIII and the agenda of Secretary Roy A. Cimatu. “I am happy to know that DENR region 8 has an impressive accomplishment despite the pandemic, and hopefully I could help in improving this accomplishment more with my experience as PENRO for more than 10 years”, he said.

Among others, ARD Bascos committed to keep an eye on the management of protected areas in the region by strengthening partnership with Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) members and operators in the field offices.

Meanwhile, ARD Bautista thanked the management and the DENR employees for supporting her stint as the OIC, Technical Services and assured full support to the new ARD.

ARD Bascos was the former Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of PENRO Kumintang Ibaba, Batangas. He was reassigned to Region VIII as ARD per Special Order No. 2020-195 dated June 5, 2020 signed by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu.
