SINP PAMB MEETING DISCUSSES ACTIVITY, RESEARCH PROPOSALS FOR SINP
The Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of the Samar Island Natural Park discuss activity and research proposals within the park presented by some institutions. PAMB Chairman RED Parian and DENR VIII Assistant Regional Director Jose Elmer C. Bascos stressed that the board shall ensure that permits and clearances are duly complied, and that mitigating measures favorable to the environment are in place before any activity within the PA is approved.
CIPLS PAMB DISCUSS PA MANAGEMENT AMID THE CURRENT PANDEMIC
The Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) of the Cuatro Islas Protected Landscape and Seascape (CIPLS) met to discuss matters concerning the PA. PAMB Chairman DENR VIII Regional Executive Director Tirso P. Parian Jr., lauded the CIPLS personnel for expressing optimism in managing the PA despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Challenged by the present situation, it has strengthened partnership with community representatives such as the people’s organizations in monitoring issues and concerns on site. It has likewise utilized social media platforms to support public environmental awareness, provide information regarding CIPLS, promote sustainable practices and relay prohibited acts within the PA.
DENR R8 EMPLOYEES RECEIVE FACE MASKS
Employees of DENR Region VIII receive face masks through the initiative of the regional office management. These face masks are made from sustainable materials of strong fiber and grass, manufactured and converted into special filters suitable for protection made by a certified Fair Trade Company of 120 artisans based in Mindanao, Philippines. These were distributed to the employees on July 22, 2020.
NEWLY ELECTED OFFICERS OF DENR 8 EMPLOYEES MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE TAKE THEIR OATH
Newly elected officers of the DENR 8 Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative took their oath on July 20, 2020 at the DENR 8 Regional Office with Regional Executive Director Tirso P. Parian Jr. as the administering officer. This coincided with the celebration of the cooperative’s 18th anniversary. The new set of officers shall serve the Cooperative for a year.
