To celebrate World Wetlands Day, the Conservation and Development Division conducted an awareness campaign starting with around thirty (30) contractual employees of the regional office. These employees were given an orientation on the importance of wetlands and the threats to this ecosystem. Also included was a discussion on the Ramsar Convention which is an intergovernmental treaty that provides framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands. Assistant Regional Director Jose Elmer C. Bascos challenged the participants to translate the information they received into concrete actions upon returning to their respective offices and homes.
