
The Community Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) in San Juan Southern Leyte joined the nationwide simultaneous tree and bamboo planting activity on September 23 to kick-off the celebration of the Philippine Bamboo Month.
Two hundred (200) pieces of narra, tindalo and malatambis seedlings were planted on a 1-hectare CBFM area in Brgy. Himbangan, St. Bernard, Southern Leyte. The said area is tenured and co-managed by the Calintian Himbangan Integrated Farmers Association, Inc. (CHIFAI) People’s Organization which also participated in the planting.
Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1401 series of 2022, the Philippine Bamboo Month is celebrated every September to promote the environmental and economic importance of bamboos.
