In celebration of the International Earth Day 2021 (April 22, 2021), DENR Eastern Samar through the leadership of Forester DELIA ABOBO-BENITEZ together with CENRO Borongan headed by Forester LEA O. TORRES represented by DMO IV Salvacion A. Factor and CENRO Dolores headed by OIC, CENR Officer FLORDELIZA DELA CRUZ, conducted a Nursery Clean-up, Site Clearing and Bamboo Planting activity at the DENR Eastern Samar π˜½π˜Όπ™ˆπ˜½π™π™Žπ™€π™π™π™ˆ, Brgy. San Rafael, Taft, Eastern Samar.
 
π˜½π˜Όπ™ˆπ˜½π™π™Žπ™€π™π™π™ˆ which means a garden having a collection of bamboo plants is an initiative project of DENR Eastern Samar (PENRO Borongan, CENRO Borongan and CENRO Dolores) which aims to promote Bamboo and its uses as well as for the community to appreciate the benefits it can provide. Currently, it has six (6) types of bamboo (Kawayan Tinik, Kawayan Kiling, Kawayan Dilaw, Kayali, Buho and Bayog).
 
Before the Nursery Clean-up, Site Clearing and Bamboo Planting activity, an Orientation on Bamboo Production and Plantation Establishment and Management by the DENR Eastern Samar ENGP Coordinator Forester Valentin B. Montes.

BRIEF HISTORY

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-Eastern Samar was established on April 26, 1989 pursuant to Executive Order No. 192 Series of 1987. It covers twenty-two (22) municipalities and one (1) city with two (2) Community Environment and Natural Resources Offices (CENROs) whose offices are located in Dolores and Borongan. The PENRO implement plans, programs and projects on Forestry, Lands, Environment and Protected Areas, with the end view on the development, management, rehabilitation, conservation and protection of natural resources in the province consistent with the sustainable development principles of the government
