PENRO NSAMAR

The month of May marks the celebration of Month of the Ocean and to commemorate this activity, PENRO Northern Samar has lined-up a series of activities which will promote the agency's different advocacies through our Tayo and Kalikasan, commencing in San Isidro Northern Samar.

The municipality of San Isidro, which composes of vast forest cover and serves as a base for a number of our eNGP Project, as well as a wide coastal area, is a lure for multiple illegal activities, thus regular Information, Education and Communication Campaign is important for the empowerment of members of the community. Thus, on May 4, 2021, PENRO Northern Samar through Tayo and Kalikasan, GAD, Senior Citizen and Youth Desk Office, lobbied the conduct of a series of Orientation which will open up doors for locals to communicate their qualms and concerns regarding the environment and maybe somehow find suggestions to solve this. After the initial meeting on May 5, 2021, the activity left an impact to the participants who during an open forum shared that they felt important for having invited to the event especially formulated for their group. During the afternoon, the team then conducted an activity targeted on the men and women employees of the Local Government Unit of San Isidro, Northern Samar.

As a highlight of the program, a coastal clean-up was conducted in Brgy. Poblacion, which was attended by LGU Personnel, through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office. During the pre-inspection, the team has observed 2 open dumpsites along the coasts and as upon a discussion with the MENRO, one of the open dumpsites will soon be converted into a seawall. In turn, this problem has been referred to the office of the Environmental Management Bureau throught the CENRO embedded personnel for action.
