Last September 17, 2016 the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) - Eastern Samar in partnership with the Provincial Environmental Management Unit (PEMU) of the Environmental Management Bureau, celebrated the National Clean-up Day 2016 wit the theme "Bayan ko, Linis ko". The Local Government Units (LGU's), Other National Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), academe and the private sector all over the province also participated in the said activity.

The massive clean-up activity was also held simultaneously all over the country. With the concept to promote cleanliness in coastal and inland waterways, esteros, creeks, public places, parks, schools, churches, public and private establishments and all areas in general nationwide. This is to strengthen the implementation of Republic Act 9003, otherwise known as “The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” which seeks to mobilize all LGU’s in the country for a one day clean-up with the participation of the whole society.
