RED Parian lays down DENR-RO8 priorities for 2020

“Echoing the instruction of DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu, we will intensify our commitment to realize the 10 priority programs of the DENR which highlights clean air, clean water and solid waste management”, says Tirso P. Parian, Jr., OIC-Regional Executive Director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

This was the message OIC-Regional Executive Director Tirso P. Parian, Jr. to the key officials of the DENR-RO8 during the traditional New Year’s Call to drumbeat the direction of the Department in the region for this year and the years to come under his leadership.

It can be recalled that upon his appointment to lead the DENR in 2017, Secretary Roy A. Cimatu laid down his 10-point priority programs which are Forest Protection; Biodiversity Management; Land Management; National Greening Program; Clean Air; Clean Water; Solid Waste Management; Climate Change; Geohazard Assessment, Groundwater Assessment and Responsible Mining; and Ecosystems Research and Development.

RED Parian also instructed the DENR’s key officials in the region to strengthen and regularly reach out to the field offices, especially those in the most remote areas and bring the office closer to the people. “We should connect the Department closer to the people and mold them to be our dependable ally in the implementation of our programs and projects by developing them to become informed citizens, particularly on environmental laws”, added RED Parian.

Even as the Department has made the commitment to be more aggressive in the performance of its tasks, it will also put in place measures that will ensure the safety of its personnel in the light of recent attacks against forest law enforcers in the region and in other parts of the country.

On the other hand, the Department is enjoining the public for its continued full support and active cooperation in the implementation of DENR programs and projects as the region welcomes a new decade.
