COMBATTING MARINE POLLUTION Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu leads the global discussion on combating marine pollution during the Leaders’ Breakfast meeting held Sunday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.  With theme, “Towards a Pollution-Free Planet,” the meeting was attended by environment ministers, international organizations, non-government organizations and the private sector. Cimatu underscored during the meeting the continuing efforts of the local government units in addressing plastic waste, as well as private sector’s initiatives in providing for commercially-viable and environment-friendly plastic alternatives. The Leaders’ Breakfast meeting precedes the 12th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMSCOP12) hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) from 23-28 October at the PICC. ###
